WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP YOU SHINE?

Backing Tracks for your audition or performance by a multiple Grammy-winning producer and mix engineer

Don't go onstage with anything less than the perfect accompaniment!

Need a GREAT-SOUNDING track to sing or play to for your audition, perfect key, perfect arrangement, perfect tempo, in a custom length?  Have a recorded performance that could use a Grammy-award winning producer's touch to push it over the top?

HIRE THE BEST.

I’m a 4x Grammy-winning producer who knows every trick in the book to get you the BEST sounding track to sing, dance or play to. Most of us aren't on a Lin Manuel Budget (yet!), so I do top-flight work at an affordable price.  Everyone who gets one shot to deliver their best performance (often in as little as 16 measures or two minutes) knows the dilemma here:  you would love to show off every dimension of your talent, from the whisper to the roar, but you don't  get a full 4-minute version of the song in which to do it.  And there is a lot more to crafting a new arrangement to perform to than doing an abrupt cut-and-paste!  This is where I come in, with 35 years of experience editing audio, producing music, and a legacy of thrilled clients.  If you’ve got a minute and a half or two minutes to show your stuff, let’s make sure we pack it with the best parts, with a really graceful, seamless flow that doesn’t distract with awful edits!  And while we’re in there, let’s make it the RIGHT KEY, the RIGHT TEMPO, with a BIG, VIVID SOUND and the RIGHT BUILD at the transitions to get you to reach escape velocity!  I  can make the perfect track for you in a variety of ways:  Remove the vocal from the original, tweak the key, the tempo, and edit the arrangement  to make a perfect track built to your exact needs.  Edit a karaoke track and optimize the sound of it.  Create an entirely new track from scratch. Check the examples below to see the range of things we can do for you!

If you have a track on which you've already recorded your vocal, but would love to hear what an experienced producer can do with your vocal track, this is the place;  I’ve been tuning and optimizing timing and sonics of vocal and instrumental tracks since those capabilities first came on line in the early 1990s.  The difference is HUGE.

AND, check the examples below to hear what I do if you have an ORIGINAL SONG (even just original lyrics) that you’d like to hear produced by a Grammy-winning professional producer.  Or even if you need an arrangement for full orchestra…or my beautiful full VIRTUAL orchestra.  Whatever you need to power your performance, you’ve found it.

Check my “What I Do/Pricing” page for a full list of services I provide!

Why THIS?  Why ME?  I had this epiphany when I went to go see the Alvin Ailey Dancers doing a program of solo dance performances a couple years ago.  It was  beautiful, but there was a glaring issue:  Some of these dancers were dancing to some wonderful music with at least a couple truly atrocious, clumsy, distracting obvious edits in the music.  Edits that really interrupted the beautiful flow of the dancing.  Some weren’t even in perfect time, which is the biggest possible no-no for a DANCER, I’d think…!  I thought to myself “I should really reach out to these dancers and tell them to send me their tracks and I’ll do the edits properly”.  There is a LOT MORE to getting a seamless, flowing “Don’t Get Distracted By My Atrocious Amateur Audio Editing” performance than just picking where to cut.  And believe me, after all these years…I KNOW ALL THE TRICKS.  When you get just one big shot, have 100% confidence in every aspect of it!

Finally, as I'm launching Performance-Tracks.com,  I am offering my services risk-free;  I am THIS SURE that you will love the work I do.  Give me an assignment, I’ll do the work and send you just the piece I worked on (for example 15 seconds before the edit, then the edit I made, then 15 seconds after, or the new key, the new tempo, etc) and if you don’t love it, you don’t pay for it, simple as that!  If you love it, pay me via PayPal, Venmo, Revolut or Zelle,  and I send you the full finished track.  I’m 100% confident in the quality of what I do, and people respond to that!

Classic Broadway showpiece, optimized for maximum impact in minimum time span! Here's what I did for this one:
1. Deleted the main vocal track
2. First edit so the performance begins right away with the vocalist in
3. Edited the Big Finish on to the nice strolling intro and first verse, created a build to the big swinging section at the end, so this piece shows you strolling and belting in about a minute and a half.
4. Started this one out down a whole step, but left the Beeg Feeneesh in the original key for better key flow
5. Added several instruments to help build up to the Beeg Feeneesh: Tympany, cymbals, a snare roll to help build momentum
6. Added back in the female BG vocals: “He’s gonna be a producer…”
7. Added a bit more vivid sound to this one, particularly for the ending.
8. Sped this one up 5 beats per minute, give you a chance to hold that big high note ’til the end!

GEE everybody who has this kind of belt would love to audition with this huge, gorgeous song. But there are a FEW PROBLEMS:
1. The intro on the original is completely rubato and out of tempo; how are you going to stay in time? I built an entirely new intro for this one that features a gentle ride cymbal counting out the time for you, with a gentle electric piano and string section to accompany you for this most gentle opening verse.
2. Added a harp glissando into the first gentle chorus section
3. Edited from my into to the first chorus of the original
4. Built a drum fill and harp glissando into the big modulated power chorus at the end
5. Edit from the little bridge section into the big end chorus 6. Edited the original ending on to the end of the big chorus to make a beautifully contoured ending, keeping the track under 2:30

1. Pitched the track down a whole step
2. Deleted the original vocal track
3. Edited the nice soft early verse seamlessly into the big chorus at the end
4. Added some cymbal hits to help the singer VERY CLEARLY hear the beat at the edit point to come in strong
5. Added a cymbal sweep at the very beginning of the track to dress it up a little bit
6. Added a tympani roll and strike to help define the downbeat of the Forte section in the second half
7. Adjusted VOLUME LEVELS to keep the nice quiet orchestra clearly audible to the singer in the first part
8. Edited a nice, strong, but MUCH SHORTER finish on to the piece.

Great track for auditions or whisper-to-a-roar performances. Here's what I did to this one:
1. Deleted main vocal track
2. pitched down a half-step for better access to that end high note (!)
3. Edited the big finish on to the end of the first chorus so this one goes from the nice ballad first part, to a nice clean chorus to the big rocking section at the end.
4. Pitched one of the hits right before the big finish down a half step to make the transposition more graceful
5. Added back in the Chorus vocals to the big end section
6. Built in a gradual tempo increase of about 5 beats per minute to get that high note a little shorter and fit this in to 2 minutes exactly without losing the nice, slow opening.
7. Added 3 tympani hits at the very beginning to establish the time so the vocalist can come in right with the downbeat of the track.

Die Living

WHAT!!!! - Produced by Performance-Tracks.com

An example of what happens when I collaborate with one of the world's great vocalists, Ellis Hall, and write and produce a song. We spent a few months on the top 200 with this one, featuring Ellis' incomparable vocals (YES, if you'd like to have Ellis work with us on an original track, he's good to go!)
